Livestream Troubleshooting FAQ
If your livestream repeatedly pauses to buffer, it's likely that the video quality exceeds the capability of your current internet connection. Consider relocating to an area with a stronger connection. Alternatively, follow these steps:
- Attempt to resolve common playback issues by refreshing the page or closing and reopening the app.
- Adjust the playback quality using the gear button on the YouTube video. On desktop, find it near the bottom-right corner; on mobile, it's at the top-right corner.
- A list of playback quality options will appear. Note that the setting in parentheses next to "Auto" indicates the current quality under current conditions, not the quality throughout the entire video.
- Opt for a lower quality setting than the highest one, and restart the video. If buffering persists, try progressively lower quality levels until you achieve smooth playback.
- Close all other applications on your device to reduce the load. If using a web browser, close unnecessary tabs as excessive tabs can lead to more frequent buffering. After closing all apps, reopen YouTube and retry the video.
